SSIS continues to fortify its programs that focus on strengthening student achievement both in academics and values with the Sponsorship Day last August 26, 2016. The Sponsorship Program is one of the guidance initiatives that will help the students attain their maximum potential in their academic and co-curricular performance in school, and at the same time, will cultivate correct values and habits through a support system.

WHAT IS A SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM?

This program is one of the guidance and counseling services of SSIS. Aside from the Class Advisers and the Guidance Officer, a student is assigned to a sponsor to further strengthen his/her support system.

A sponsor is a teacher, an officer, or a member of the staff with whom a helping relationship can be established. A sponsor therefore assumes the role of a friend, a coach, a caregiver, a guide, an ardent supporter of a student, a constant motivator, and as such, a valuable agent of the student’s growth and development.

WHAT ARE THE TOPICS DISCUSSED IN A SPONSORSHIP CHAT?

A sponsor is expected to meet the students 2-3 times a year to discuss the following topics equitably in each Sponsorship session:

  1. Study habits (Study Schedule), time management, prioritization of tasks, study techniques, etc.)
  2. Practice of the Value of the Month/Week
  3. Practice of Good Manners and social grace
  4. Relationships (family, friends, classmates, teachers, caregivers, etc.)
  5. Values and virtues needed by the students

In Stonyhurst Southville International School, we aim for our students to grow as the best individuals that they can be with all the support that the school can offer.  With this sponsorship program, we have the positive force that contributes to a strong, dynamic, and academic community which aims for excellence.
