Sixth Grader Persus Atienza bagged a Silver Award at the 2016 National Parallel Competition for Future Mathematicians held last October 27-28, 2016.

The math wiz trained with Tch. Cardz Ferrer days before the event and he also did some self-training to supplement what he knows and to get used to working under time pressure. Persus is a veteran in Math competitions having garnered local and international awards for his intellectual endeavor.   He said he got interested in Math because his father is an engineer and his mother who is a doctor, is an honor student.

“They are my inspiration, as well as my friends.  Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today,” he  said.   He advised his fellow students to “Stay determined.” According to the Mathematics Development Academy of the Philippines, more than 600 Filipino math wizard registered for the competition which was held at St. Stephen’s High School in Manila.
